StarTech Networks is a leading provider of offshore Fiber Design, Engineering, GIS, Program Management, and Business Support services to major North American telecommunications clients.

Key Responsibilities:
Application Ownership:
  • Own the complete software platform including architecture, performance, security, and scalability.
  • Maintain high availability of the production environment.
  • Diagnose and resolve application bugs and production issues.
  • Respond to user support requests and data-related queries.
  • Ensure platform stability with minimal downtime.

Software Development:
  • Design and develop new modules and features.
  • Enhance existing workflows without disrupting production.
  • Build secure and scalable REST/JSON APIs.
  • Improve application performance and maintainability.
  • Produce clean, well-documented, production-quality code.

Database Management:
  • Design and optimize PostgreSQL database structures.
  • Write efficient SQL queries without ORM dependency.
  • Maintain database integrity and performance.
  • Manage schema changes and data migrations.
  • Support backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes.

Infrastructure & DevOps:
  • Maintain Docker-based deployment environments.
  • Manage application servers and containerized services.
  • Support Cloudflare Tunnel-based secure application access.
  • Maintain staging and production environments.
  • Monitor application health, logs, and system performance.

Required Skills:
Backend Development:
  • Strong experience in Python development.
  • Experience with Flask preferred.
  • Django or FastAPI experience is also acceptable.
  • Strong understanding of authentication, sessions, middleware, API design, and backend architecture.

Excellent SQL skills:
Strong understanding of:
  • Joins
  • Indexes
  • Transactions
  • Query optimization
  • Database normalization
  • Performance tuning

Full Stack Development:
Working knowledge of:
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • Responsive UI development
  • DevOps & Deployment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5–10 years of software development experience.
  • Previous ownership of a production business application.
  • Experience maintaining separate Development, Staging, and Production environments.
